Functional Foods
Functional Foods
Functional foods are whole, fortified, enriched, or enhanced foods that provide health benefits beyond the provision of essential nutrients.
These benefits, which can lead to improved health outcomes and a reduced risk of chronic diseases, serve as a compelling reason to provide consumers with functional food choices to incorporate into their diets. At Artemis we offer extracts, powders, and concentrates to harness beneficial phytonutrients, flavors, colors, and other attributes suitable for a variety of food applications.

Juice Powder
Juice powders are made by first selecting the best fruits, selected for polyphenol content and other phytochemical properties, concentrating the juice of the fruit and spray-drying them into fine powders. Juice Powders are water soluble and retain the nutrients and flavors of the fruit making them convenient and nutritious additions to any functional food, beverage or dietary supplement.
Botanical Powder
Botanical powders are derived from plants and are used for various purposes including functional food, beverages, tinctures, skincare, and dietary supplements. Botanical powders offer a range of benefits depending on the plant they are derived from. Some common benefits include nutritional boost, anti-inflammatory properties, digestive health, immune support, skin and hair care and stress relief.
Standardized Extract
Berry and botanical extracts are popular for their health benefits and versatility. Extracts can be produced via different technologies such as chemical solvent extraction, water extraction, and water/physical membrane filtration. Extracts can be found in a variety of products, from dietary supplements to skincare and food items. The high levels of antioxidants and other compounds make them valuable for delivering consistent levels of bioactive compounds to support overall health and wellness.
Liquid Concentrate
Liquid concentrates are incredibly versatile and convenient. They are more economical to transport and store and can be easily reconstituted when needed. The best concentrates retain the essence which provides for better organoleptic qualities in the finished product. Whether added to a food product for color or other attribute, or a primary ingredient in a juice, smoothie, sparkling beverage, coffee or other, the concept remains the same – just add water to proper Brix level when you’re ready to use it.
Milled Fiber
Milled fibers are finely ground fibers derived from fruits and plant parts. These fibers are used in various applications due to their natural properties and benefits. Milled fibers can come from a variety of sources such as berries, fruits, vegetables, leaves, roots and stems.
Whole Fruit Powder
Whole fruit powders are a convenient way to incorporate the nutritional benefits of fruits into your diet. They are made by dehydrating whole fruits and grinding them into a fine powder, preserving most of the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber found in fresh fruits.
Protein Powder
Protein powder is made through a series of steps that vary depending on the source of the protein (e.g., whey, cranberry, soy, pea). Some of the processes include specific raw material sourcing, extraction, filtration, concentration and isolation. With the increased interest in plant-based & vegan-friendly options, the protein category is growing quickly. New protein sources are being discovered every day with a goal to achieve levels on par with meat and poultry.
